PlayCleanGo® Awareness Week is held each year in early June, beginning on National Trails Day and ending on National Get Outdoors Day. This annual celebration brings together partners across North America to raise awareness about invasive species prevention through responsible outdoor recreation.

WHAT IS PLAYCLEANGO® AWARENESS WEEK?

PlayCleanGo® Awareness Week is a continent-wide outreach campaign coordinated by NAISMA that empowers outdoor enthusiasts, land managers, and partner organizations to take simple actions to stop the spread of invasive species.

Whether you’re hiking, biking, paddling, camping, riding horseback, or traveling, you can make a difference. Together, we can prevent the spread of invasive species.

WHY IT MATTERS

Invasive species can hitch a ride on boots, tires, pets, boats, and gear—spreading from one location to another undetected. By promoting clean recreation practices, we reduce the risk of new introductions and help protect native ecosystems.

Since launching, PlayCleanGo® Awareness Week has:

TOOLS TO HELP YOU PARTICIPATE

We offer a variety of outreach materials and prevention tools to support your efforts during PlayCleanGo® Awareness Week and all year long:

Boot Brush Stations

Installed at trailheads across North America, these tools help visitors clean their footwear while learning how to stop invasive species in their tracks.

Handheld Boot Brushes

Great for field kits, volunteer events, or giveaways—easy to pack and effective for cleaning on the go.

Quick-Dry Towels

Ideal for paddlers and boaters to wipe down gear and follow Clean, Drain, Dry best practices.
